Hello! We’re Kristy and Anwar, your hosts at White Rock Guesthouse in Booni, Upper Chitral.
Anwar, a Booni native, is a poet, polo player, and elected town chairman. Kristy, from the U.S., is a health educator, traveler, and writer. We met in early 2023 when Claire arrived at White Rock while backpacking — a visit that led not only to our marriage but also to a shared mission to serve Chitral’s communities.
In 2025, we founded Chitral Rising, a nonprofit that aims to build libraries and health programs while also supporting education and relief work across the region. Our first library, just a short walk from the guesthouse, is free and open to everyone — a welcoming space where travelers and locals can connect and learn.
White Rock Guesthouse was once Anwar’s family home. More than a decade later, it has become a gathering place for backpackers, local leaders, youth groups, and visiting professionals. Town meetings, environmental projects, and spontaneous music nights all happen here.
